Illustration Friday: Houses #17 - crooked

Acrylic paint, acrylic ink and poster colour on 300 gm watercolour paper. 18" X 12"

The man was kind enough to hold this up against the wall for me while I took a picture. There was a bit of grumbling, a bit of muttering and maybe a sigh here and there but he did the job.

Tx, honey! It's good exercise for the arms btw :)

I missed last week's Illustration Friday topic "burst" so I am very happy that with this week's topic I get to submit the latest in my Houses series - Houses #17, all built along crooked roads.

Untitled

Chinese watercolour on paper. 9" X 27"

I don't have a title for this piece but it's part of my Sarkas series. I love it. It's one of my favourites. I did it back in 2009 during one of my short creative bursts.

These days Sweetie #1 would roll her eyes and snort before leaving the room every time she sees me working on my houses. Haha. Looks like it's time I go back to painting other stuff again.

Forever!

Man, this one's taking me forever. It's 18" X 12", larger than the other pieces. Plus, I had trouble with some of the colours. The blues in particular. The paint wouldn't stick and left some irritating streaks.

But all's good now. Am getting the hang of it.

Houses #16

Acrylic paint and poster colour on watercolour paper. 12" X 9"

The blue hair reminds me of Japanese manga characters :)

Pink giraffe

Sweetie #1's teacher gave her this pink giraffe last year 2 years ago for doing well in her exams. I'm using it as my colour inspiration for a new piece. You can see it in the background.

Illustration Friday - Imagination

I made this 12 years ago after I did the other piece that I have used to make my first bag. I cut up the flowers from an old batik cloth, arranged them into a tree and added scraps of lace. I also stuffed the petals of the batik flowers to give them some dimension like the clouds but I didn't take a very good picture of the details. That's Sweetie #1 holding it up to give you an idea of how big it is. Because of the size I don't quite know what to do with it so it's been left hanging on my chair. Some friends have suggested I frame it. Perhaps. Someday.

For now it's my submission for this week's Illustration Friday. I thought I'd call it The Tree of Imagination. Haha. A bit cheesy, I know, but I think it works :)

Illustration Friday: Houses #15 - Identical

6" X 9"
Sweetie #1 really likes how the colours pop. I think they burn my eyes! :) I used blue, ultramarine, opera and chrome yellow poster colour. Ok... I admit, the image on the right is a copy of the painting on the left. All I did was flip it.

They're definitely identical :)

Inspiration

An old friend of mine gave Sweetie #2 a whole bunch of pretty, cute and colourful clothes. Lucky, lucky kid! Thanks, A.W! Here's one of many that's my personal favourite and colour inspiration for Houses #14.
