Stone on Stone

Saw the fish stone illustration by Isidro Ferrer via one of my favourite blogs the art room plant  and immediately dug up this book my mother bought back in the 70s. She was quite crafty when I was a kid and I remember she painted a duck on a rock we found in the garden. It got lost some time over the years or maybe it's sitting in a box somewhere. I should probably ask her.

Last one for now... Houses #7

Sweetie #1 thinks I am obsessed with houses and buildings. And she's right :) It's time to try something else.

Irresistable

Bright, warm hot morning sun.

Fatimah's Kampung

I bought this beautiful book for Sweetie #1 because I wanted it :) In his dedication Iain Buchanan thanked his wife Maznoor "Who, for five years, worked in factories so that I could stay home and draw pictures." Read more about Fatimah's Kampung here and here.

Illustration Friday!

My very first submission for Illustration Friday! Found this old, rather macabre piece done in 2009 that I think fits the topic... suspense. How apt. That's exactly what I'm feeling at the moment thinking about having my work seen by all of you out there. The suspense is killing me :) Pun intended.

2009 revisited

This piece done in 2009 is reminiscent of the *paintings I did way back in 2000.

*The paintings were part of a series called Sarkas (Circus)

2009

I painted only a handful of pieces in 2009. Here are two of them. These old ones are populated with people and animals, something I will definitely go back to again.

Houses #5

The focus doesn't seem quite sharp here but it will do. Trying out some blues, greys, oranges and pinks. I used the inside of the envelopes we receive our bills for the raindrops. Got the idea from seeing Essimar's work here. Love her sense of colours. Her cards, gift wrapping ideas and paper work are so pretty!
