Plants & Flowers

When Sweetie #1 first got her camera she mostly took pictures of plants and flowers. I think these were taken around my mother's garden. Pretty!

Girls 2000

I painted this in 2000 on a piece of plank I found. I've been meaning to hang it up somewhere but I have yet to get around to it. It's nearly 3 feet long of girls in various kebaya and baju kurung. Here's a youtube video on other Malaysian traditional clothes. I wish they had labeled the clothes and where they are from.

sketches

Sometimes I sketch a few pieces at a time so I will have something to paint over the next few days. And I have to be honest. I become a nervous wreck when I paint. My hand begins to tremble and all kinds of thoughts rush through my head - the colour is wrong, I will make a huge messy splotch, bla, bla, bla. So I hold my breath and take a moment before laying on the paint. And when I do, it feels like watching a horror movie between my fingers!

 It always surprises me when all goes well which, I guess, means it usually doesn't :) But that's the process.

Houses #9

I miss painting houses! Ever since Sweetie #1 complained about my obsession with houses I have been dabbling with fish, birds, flowers, plants and patterns. And as much as I enjoy painting them, I don't know how much longer before I cave in and go on a "houses binge"! I've already had one relapse. And somewhere between painting Bird #2 and Bird & Flowers #2, I sneaked this one in :)

Happy Belated Mother's Day!

 

 

Sweetie #1 made this for me for Mother's Day but left it at art class. Yesterday she brought it home and gave it to me. Absolutely love it! If ever I should post a tutorial this will be the first and it will have to be by Sweetie #1 because I have no idea how to make it.

Sweetie #1 pulled out my old sketchbook and made me use it for some inspiration. She must've caught me staring into space too long with a brush in my hand, sighing and probably muttering to myself. Haha. She kicks ass. Mine :)
