Etlingera elatior

Growing in the back garden once upon a time. It has many, many names - Torch Ginger, Ginger Flower, Red Ginger Lily, Torch Lily, Wild Ginger, Combrang, Philippine Wax Flower, Xiang Bao Jiaing, Indonesian Tall Ginger, Boca de Dragón, Rose de Porcelaine, Porcelain Rose.

Here we call it Bunga Kantan.

A bird and flowers

Sometimes I feel the work is missing something but I'm not quite sure what it is. In this case adding the clouds made all the difference. Wish I had taken a before photo.

Taraxacum Officinale

Sweetie #1 took these pictures of the Taraxacum Officinale or more commonly known as the Dandelion on her trip to Russia with my mom. Lovely!

These are my favourite wild flowers.  We were on our way home from celebrating my brother's birthday and happened to have Sweetie #1's camera with us when I came across them today. It's amazing how you can find something so pretty right by a garbage strewn roadside.

When Sweetie #1 first got her camera she mostly took pictures of plants and flowers. I think these were taken around my mother's garden. Pretty!

Sweetie #1 pulled out my old sketchbook and made me use it for some inspiration. She must've caught me staring into space too long with a brush in my hand, sighing and probably muttering to myself. Haha. She kicks ass. Mine :)
